Athletes

We use the term "athlete" to include anyone who engages in a sport or activity, whether he or she engages competitively or for personal gratification.  An athlete may seek chiropractic care for a variety of reasons, the number one being an injury. Other reasons may be to improve form or technique, or overcome performance plateaus.

Dr. Lisa has a heavy athletic background and experience in the sports medicine field. Dr. Lisa also became certified in Applied Kinesiology, a technique that utilizes neurological reflexes to gain diagnostic information from the body.  The reflexes are read through muscle testing, and subtle changes in the strength of the muscle that signify a change in the neurological input to that muscle (the signal to contract). Using this technique allows Dr. Lisa to determine if muscles are working in proper coordination, as well as detect minor injuries to muscles that may cause pain in other areas of the body. Applied Kinesiology also uses gait analysis to determine the overall function of your musculoskeletal system.  Looking at gait provides a practitioner a tremendous amount of information about muscular imbalances and even joints that do not have full and proper range of motion. The applications of Applied Kinesiology are endless, and make a huge difference in recovery time, and the number of treatment visits. This technique has allowed Dr. Lisa to find ways to fine-tune the athlete's body so that even high-level athletes can enjoy further improvements in performance.
