Understanding Root Causes

Musculoskeletal pain and wellness challenges are often signals of deeper imbalances. True healing means looking beneath the surface at root causes—the factors that shape how your body feels and functions.

Think of it like a pie chart: each slice is a root cause. Addressing one slice can help, but lasting progress comes when we address several together. For example sleep, gut health, and diet might each individually make up about 10% of the problem, but if we work on all three, we could potentially create a 30% improvement—and that difference is felt in everyday life!

Common Root Causes We Explore

  • Sleep – Critical for repair, regulation, and reducing inflammation.

  • Environmental Exposures (toxins, EMF, chemicals) – Stressors that can burden the nervous system and influence musculoskeletal strain.

  • Diet – Nutrition shapes energy, inflammation, repair, and supports structural correction.

  • Exercise & Movement – Promotes circulation, strength, and mobility.

  • Stress & Trauma Patterns – Physical tension from stress may create pain and dysregulation. We use somatic awareness tools to release tension patterns and support nervous system resilience, which enhances chiropractic care.

  • Microbial & Immune Stressors – Potential low-grade stressors such as microbial imbalances may contribute to inflammation affecting musculoskeletal health.

  • Gut Issues – Gut health influences immunity, energy, and spinal comfort.

  • Releasing protective tension can shift how you experience stress, supporting chiropractic adjustments and nervous system resilience.​

This is not psychotherapy or mental health treatment. While it can benefit mental health through nervous system regulation, it is a physical practice that supports healing and integration with chiropractic care.

The Journey Ahead

Healing takes time. Gut repair, nervous system regulation, and lifestyle shifts may take 6 months to a year or more depending on your starting point, available resources, and life circumstances.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Certain recommendations may work nine times out of ten, but you may be the one case where they don’t. That’s okay. Part of this process involves trial and error. If something isn’t working, we will shift gears and pivot to a new starting point—even if it diverges from the usual path. Over time, progress builds slice by slice, creating meaningful improvement.
