Frequently Asked Questions
What does “trauma-informed care” mean?
Trauma-informed care recognizes how past experiences—especially overwhelming or stressful ones—can shape how the body holds tension and responds to treatment. In a trauma-informed setting, your physical, emotional, and nervous system responses are all respected. I work gently and collaboratively, always honoring your boundaries and offering choices throughout the session.
How is your approach different from traditional nutrition/lifestyle coaches?
Traditional nutrition and lifestyle coaching often focuses only on diet and exercise. My approach is more integrative and rooted in the connection between the body and nervous system. In addition to nutrition and lifestyle guidance, I incorporate body awareness practices, nervous system regulation tools, and somatic support to help you better track and respond to your body’s signals. When helpful, we may also use optional functional testing—such as nutritional panels—to gain more information and guide personalized recommendations. These results are interpreted in the context of wellness support, not as medical diagnosis.
4. What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit is all about connection and comfort. We’ll talk about your health history, current concerns, and goals for care. I’ll explain what to expect, go over expectations, answer any questions, and make sure you feel fully at ease. We will decide together the next best step from there.
How do you ensure that sessions are safe and supportive for people with trauma histories?
I use a consent-based, choice-driven approach, meaning you’re always in control of your experience. You’re invited to communicate openly, and I honor all boundaries—spoken or unspoken.
How do you tailor care for parents or caregivers under stress?
Parenting—especially in today’s world—can be overwhelming. I provide a supportive space where you can pause, reset, and receive care without judgment. My goal is to help you feel more resourced and resilient as you move through your wellness journey.
How often should I have sessions?
That depends on everyone's unique circumstances. We want to afford you time to make changes and track results so we may lengthen the time between sessions to accommodate those changes, or if we are working more on the somatic side of things, we may schedule more frequently. There is always room and opportunity to adjust the pace as we go.
What if I dont have childcare?
I am not stranger to having a child in tow. We will make it work. Some modifications to a session may be necessary but we will welcome the challenge!
What kind of training or background do you have in trauma-informed work?
In addition to my chiropractic education and ongoing clinical experience since 2013, I’ve completed further training as well as advanced training for nervous system regulation in Neurodevelopment, Attachment, and Resilience as well as in Grief through Trauma Healing Accelerated and the certified Trauma-Informed Coach through The Centre For Healing. I’m committed to lifelong learning in this area to better serve my community. Currently I am enrolled and working toward a certification as an Integrative Healthcare Practitioner.
Is your practice inclusive of all genders, identities, and family structures?
Yes. My practice is a welcoming and affirming space for people of all backgrounds. I believe healing happens best when you feel safe, seen, and respected for who you are.
