Frequently Asked Questions
What does “trauma-informed care” mean in a chiropractic setting?
Trauma-informed care recognizes how past experiences—especially overwhelming or stressful ones—can shape how the body holds tension and responds to treatment. In a trauma-informed setting, your physical, emotional, and nervous system responses are all respected. I work gently and collaboratively, always honoring your boundaries and offering choices throughout the session.
How is your approach different from traditional chiropractic care?
While traditional chiropractic care often focuses on structural adjustments alone, my integrative approach considers the whole person—including your emotional health, stress levels, diet/lifestyle, environment and life circumstances. Sessions may include nervous system regulation tools, body awareness and support practices, or simple lifestyle support in addition to hands-on care. I also integrate some custom guided meditations that are crafted from the presenting pattern of discomfort that day.
4. What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit is all about connection and comfort. We’ll talk about your health history, current concerns, and goals for care. I’ll explain what to expect from treatment, answer any questions, and make sure you feel fully at ease. If we proceed with care that day, it will be at a pace that feels right for you.
How do you ensure that treatment is safe and supportive for people with trauma histories?
I use a consent-based, choice-driven approach, meaning you’re always in control of your experience. I avoid forceful techniques and take time to explain everything. If at any point something doesn’t feel right, we adjust together. You’re invited to communicate openly, and I honor all boundaries—spoken or unspoken.
Can chiropractic care help with emotional stress or anxiety?
Yes. Chiropractic care can support the nervous system, and many people find that gentle, integrative treatments help reduce the physical effects of stress. When your body feels safe and balanced, your mind can often follow. I also offer grounding tools and practices to help you feel more centered between visits.
How do you tailor care for parents or caregivers under stress?
Parenting—especially in today’s world—can be overwhelming. I provide a supportive space where you can pause, reset, and receive care without judgment. Whether it’s through gentle adjustments, supportive somatic techniques, assistance with the parent-child dynamic, or simply a listening ear, my goal is to help you feel more resourced and resilient.
Do you use hands-on adjustments, or are there gentler techniques available?
Yes, I offer a range of techniques, including very gentle, low-force methods like Dynamic Somatic Touch Therapy that are suitable for people who may be sensitive to traditional adjustments. We always discuss options, and I tailor the approach to your comfort and needs.
What kinds of tools or strategies do you offer beyond chiropractic treatment?
Depending on your needs, I may share tools for nervous system regulation, mindfulness practices, somatic awareness, and parenting support. These are always offered as invitations, not prescriptions, and are designed to empower you outside of our sessions.
How often should I come in for care?
That depends on your goals, symptoms, and lifestyle. Some people come weekly during times of stress, others check in seasonally. We’ll co-create a rhythm that feels supportive—not overwhelming—and can always adjust as needed.
Can I bring my child to the appointment?
Absolutely. I know that finding childcare isn’t always easy, and I welcome children into the space, in fact, my own child is often contributing to the ambience of care. The waiting and treatment room are equipped with toys. If you need to have your child with you, I’ll do my best to make sure both of you feel comfortable and cared for.
What kind of training or background do you have in trauma-informed work?
In addition to my chiropractic education and ongoing clinical experience since 2013, I’ve completed further training as well as advanced training for nervous system regulation in Neurodevelopment, Attachment, and Resilience as well as in Grief through Trauma Healing Accelerated and the certified Trauma-Informed Coach through The Centre For Healing. I’m committed to lifelong learning in this area to better serve my community. Currently I am enrolled and working toward a certification as an Integrative Healthcare Practitioner.
Is your practice inclusive of all genders, identities, and family structures?
Yes. My practice is a welcoming and affirming space for people of all backgrounds. I believe healing happens best when you feel safe, seen, and respected for who you are.
What kind of environment can I expect when I visit your clinic?
You can expect a calm, homey, and grounding environment—one that feels more like a sanctuary than a clinic. My goal is to create a space where your nervous system can soften and where you can truly settle into care.
